One Week

So amazing as it seems for me we have come one week from the end of the school year for the girls!!  ONE WEEK.... If you had told me last August 4th that the school year would come to an end so soon I would have told you 'no way'.. but here we are!!  one week away..

So in one week we will be boarded a plane to Texas.. spending some time there with friends.. then off to New Jersey to spend time with family... I am so ready to be there!!  I am so ready to understand all of the road signs!!!  I am so ready to do over 60 km!!

I am ready to hug my friends.. I am ready to hug my mom.. I am ready to see my new baby niece.. I am ready to shop at stores where I understand the prices.. so many things I am ready for..

This past month has been lovely and busy.. we had our friends visit us from Texas and I can't even begin to tell you how good that was for the soul!!  Being here is very lonely at times and even though I am surrounded my lovely moms at school who understand completely where I am coming from.. I still find myself lonely.. so the visit was great.. and being busy until we leave keeps me from just obsessing about our trip and what I need to get done/need to buy, etc, etc..

So we didn't go anywhere this month but we did do a bit of site seeing!!  More we will be doing in July when we are here while school is out.. I almost forget how lovely Buenos Aires truly is!!  and how much there is to do here..

so here are some pics.. :)

Downtown BA has a lot of parks, lakes, green space built into the concrete jungle and it is just beautiful.. even on a cloudy day

So we celebrated a dear friends end of chemo treatments.. She has been such a great friend since I have arrived, making sure I don't get lost on this crazy journey.. making sure I know where to get things like thread, my car battery replaced.. you know important things.. she is dear to me.. and I hope I show her enough..

bought myself some tango shoes.. :)

Nola.. always will be Texan!!

So Sofia arrived!!!  and we were very very happy!!

She brought Libby with her too!!  wonderful time with a wonderful friend!!

San Telmo Market.. a great way to spend Sundays!!!  I love all of the fun things you can buy there.. and now I know why I should love Mafalda!!

El Ateneo Grand Book Store in BA.. Used to be an old theatre.. amazing!!!!!  purchased my first cook book.. in Spanish!!!!  :)

So El Ateneo Grand did not have the selection of English books Cora was hoping for.. so we walked to KEL which is an English book store.. I love the stairs.. and the fact that Cora used her own money to buy a book she has already read!!

Buenos Aires has the best doors.. hands down!!

So of course the one day we want to tour Libby around Casa Rosado and that area.. we get off the train to picketers!!!  LOL.. and then when we get to Casa Rosado it is closed for holiday preparation.. and there is a pre-bank strike that allows us to see lots of paper in the street, more picketers and lots of drumming.. Welcome to Argentina in the fullest!!

We found a Basilica near downtown and I was amazed!!  you would never know it was there.. it is truly off the beaten path..

Chacarita Cemetary.. stunning!!!

Gustavo Cerati is the main person to see down this hallway.. lined with flowers!!

Truly.. Argentines know how to do snack!!!  except for they put Dulce De Leche on EVERYTHING.. LOL..

Sunrise at the girls school.. really doesn't get much nicer than this..
